Saint Anne School

SPIRITUAL AND MORAL FORMATION

Spiritual and Moral Formation at Saint Anne School are rooted in our core belief in the importance of the education of the whole child — mind, body, and spirit. Our curriculum carefully follows the framework and standards of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles with particular emphasis on Social Justice teachings and living and practicing faith teachings in our everyday lives.
Students in all grades have the opportunity to participate in school-wide mass every Friday morning, taking turns in the planning and preparation of these masses. In third grade Catholic students prepare to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion which are celebrated as a class with ceremonies in the spring.
Teachers are engaged in an ongoing catechetical certification process, as prescribed by the California Bishops. This is a three-year process including a 6 week Catholic Theology course through the STEP Program at the University of Notre Dame. Ongoing catechetical formation provides renewal every three years.
At Saint Anne School, we are proudly Catholic. We are accepting of students from all faith or non-faith backgrounds and over one-third of current students are non-Catholic. We feel strongly that this diversity, in a spirit of acceptance, inclusion and welcome, strengthens the catholicity of our school. Children are taught to greatly value acceptance, tolerance and inclusion and every student and staff member makes a five point pledge to uphold these values fostering a strong and safe community where all students are “upstanders” not “bystanders” whenever they see that these values are not being respected.
