Grades 3, 4 and 5 Enjoy Field Trip to Walt Disney Concert Hall for Music Program

February 8, 2013 by Saint Anne School

Through the LA Philharmonic’s Symphonies for Schools program and a transportation grant from the City of Santa Monica’s Cultural Affairs Division, Saint Anne School’s third, fourth and fifth graders enjoyed a field trip to Walt Disney Concert Hall on Tuesday. The musical whodunit concert program, entitled “The Composer is Dead” featured the music of composer Nathaniel Stookey and the narration of Lemony Snicket, beloved author-narrator of the Series of Unfortunate Events children’s books, together creating an investigative stroll through the ranks of the orchestra. As a part of the Symphonies for Schools program, before the field trip, Saint Anne School teachers participated in a professional development day at Disney Hall and music specialists from the LA Philharmonic’s Education Department came to the school to present music history and education lessons to the students.  Students in Saint Anne School’s third through fifth grade have the option of selecting violin or cell instruction as their music elective, and enjoyed the opportunity to see professional orchestral musicians at work.
