On February 10, 2015 Saint Anne School will host its second annual Blended Learning Summit. Saint Anne School was the first Catholic school in Los Angeles to pioneer school-wide blended learning when it launched its program in 2013 as one of several Seton Education Partners‘ Phaedrus schools. The 2014 Summit gathered representatives from the educator, funder and software vendor schools, including Catholic, charter and independent schools, area foundations for a morning of dialogue on best practices and challenges in the field. Topics included Data Driven Instruction, Blended Learning Infrastructure and Training the Blended Learning teacher. An article about the event appeared in The Tidings, Blended Learning_Taking Ownership of Their Own Education_The Tidings_02_21_2014. The success of the 2014 triggered a return engagement.
The 2015 Summit will up the ante on the blended learning format and engage participants in a rotation through three learning modules, including
- Professional Learning Communities, featuring professional development opportunities for educators at Loyola Marymount University and Santa Clara University’s Academy of Blended Learning
- Distributed Leadership, exploring leadership models in use at USC Hybrid High, The Alliance for College Ready Public Schools, Thrive Schools, and Saint Anne School
- Innovation, featuring a hands-on blended learning math lesson, with direct and online learning in a Think Through Math demonstration lesson.
Participation in the Summit is by invitation only. Space is limited and priority is given to principals, educational technology specialists or teachers, funders interested in blended learning models, vendors in the blended learning space serving elementary and high school students, and media interested in education and education technology.
